In a tavern by the sea, where the waves crash with glee
There’s Rum, a drunken sailor, as lost as can be
Sugar, she’s our captain, with a glare that could make you freeze
And then there’s poor ol’ me, just trying to appease

Rum, Sugar and me, a trio in unity
For better and for worse, we navigate the sea
Rum, Sugar and me

Rum’s got a bottle never far from his hand
Tripping over his feet with pockets full of sand
Sugar’s got a tongue sharp as a guillotine
She’ll make you walk the plank for the sake of the scene

Rum, Sugar and me, sailing the vast blue sea
Friendship plus love, boundless and free
Rum, Sugar and me

Years ago, we set sail on a ship called “Free Love”
With no treasure map in hand, we never anchor off
Stormy weather and slack spells, we conquer the seven seas
And if someone attacks us, we get rid of the sleaze

Rum, Sugar and me, a three-way decree
Signed in the logbook of love, sailing on the sea
Rum, Sugar and me

We’ll find treasure wherever we go
So, we’re still on the prowl
Sugar’s counting booty with a wicked grin
Rum’s singing shanties to a bottle of gin
And me, I’m just happy with my lovely company

I got whiskey on my breath
I smoke a funny cigarette
It’s a lazy Sunday dawn
And my baby, she is gone

She couldn’t stand the fact
That I’m lonesome and sad
It’s always been that way
No wonder, she didn’t stay

I wish I’s a better man
But I am who I am
And I swear I try to change my way
Cause I’m full of regrets
And many old threats
Yeah, I’ll be better someday
Yeah, I’ll be a better man
When I change my way

So, when I got sober
I thought the worst would be over
But got busy Monday night
And nothing went right

Guess the only thing I’m good in
Is failure and losin’
I try to keep us together
But again, didn’t dare to tell her

I wish I’s a better man
But I am who I am
And I swear I try to change my way
Cause I’m full of regrets
And many old threats
Yeah, I’ll be better someday
Yeah, I’ll be a better man
When I change my way

Another Saturday night, I stagger along the creek
And I swear to myself again, I’ll change next week
Yeah, someday I’ll get it straight, change my life for better
Yes someday, somehow and then forever

I wish I’s a better man
But I am who I am
And I swear I try to change my way
Cause I’m full of regrets
And many old threats
Yeah, I’ll be better someday
Yeah, I’ll be a better man
When I change my way

Yeah, I’ll be a better man
When I change my way
Yeah, I’ll be a better man

Woke up in the morning in the forest by the creek
I hardly could make it back on my feet
Oh boy, how did I end up so low
I gotta get up and try to go

First, I had to find my path all through the misty fog
Sure got lost and met that dirty ol’ hog
Oh boy, that was a hell of a brawl
I gotta get up but just can crawl

Searching for release I found new ways
And I ain’t missin’ the pain and the haze
Quit living on nothing but dreams and booze
Now I learned that I can turn loose

Woke up in the morning in a bigger ol’ city
Kiss my little darlin’, she’s oh so pretty
Oh boy, how I love my new live
‘Cause I got up and now I thrive

Oh, ol‘ rowboat
Rocking in the water, moored to the jetty
Oh, ol’ rowboat
Rocking in the wind, swaying real steady
To the beat of the waves
All through the nights and days
Come sun, come rain
Ol’ rowboat remains

If there’s no tide, no winds, no waves to float you
I’ll take your oar, paddle off the shore
And swim to explore the seven seas of love

Oh, ol‘ rowboat
Rocking in the water, moored to the jetty
Oh, ol’ rowboat
Rocking in the wind, swaying real steady
To the beat of the waves
All through the nights and days
Come sun, come rain
Ol’ rowboat remains

When the paint comes off your wood and it feels rotten
I’ll be aware, I’ll take care
Try to repair to keep you floating on

Oh, ol‘ rowboat
Rocking in the water, moored to the jetty
Oh, ol’ rowboat
Rocking in the wind, swaying real steady
To the beat of the waves
All through the nights and days
Come sun, come rain
Ol’ rowboat remains

When the day comes when you sink to the ground
I’ll stay with you, just we two
Pretending to weigh the anchor and float again

Oh, ol‘ rowboat
Rocking in the water, moored to the jetty
Oh, ol’ rowboat
Rocking in the wind, swaying real steady
To the beat of the waves
All through the nights and days
Come sun, come rain
Ol’ rowboat remains

Met a young girl at the ol’ well
At the ol’ well she dwell

Asked her for a sign and she gave me lot of wine
Under the pine it tasted mighty fine

The night set in and she began to sing
Now we’re dancin’ into the spring

Oh oh oh…

Met a young girl at the ol’ well
At the ol’ well we dwell

Out of the spring I still hear it ring
A pretty little thing, damn she can sing

Oh oh oh…
